who am i?
on a trip through uzbekistan I purchased an old soviet rangefinder in a dusty bazaar. everything else was just falling down the rabbit hole…
i like to take photos in deep-focus black and white. color is fun but we spend all day with roygbiv. i enjoy creating images with an old-style chunky hard-boiled look.
the print is the final expression of what the camera makes. sharing digitals is cool and fun but there’s nothing quite like holding a sheet of silver halide crystals in your hand. printmaking is a natural extension of photography that allows me to have full control over what the final image actually looks like.

contact me through the contact page on this site. if you would like a print of my work, be sure to include the name of the photo, the size you want it to be, and what kind of paper you are interested in. i will get back to you with a price and estimated ship date.
if you would like a print made of your own photo, please include a scan or photo of the negative if possible.

negatives on 35mm film (all my negatives are 35) look their best at 16” by 20” and less. we can go bigger but the grain of the photo will be very apparent. smaller common sizes include 11” by 14” and 8” by 10”.

i print on ilford papers. your options for paper stock are resin coated and fiber based paper. resin coated paper is coated in plastic, cheaper to produce, and easier for me to work with. fiber based is more expensive but lasts longer and has a more traditional feel.
depending on the paper stock you choose, there are a number of finishes including glossy, matte, and others in between.

if the paper you choose is in stock prints typically ship within a week.

digital scans are an incredible technology and are better than prints at preserving the entire tonal range of a negative.
prints are a compromise, but that is part of the fun.
